How Do I Fix Problem in Microsoft Word 2007 on a Windows Vista-Based Computer?

If Microsoft Office 2007 Packages was running on your Microsoft Windows Vista-based computer while you want to shut it down or even restarting it, endeavour to close word 2007 before turning of your Computer. If not, you may likely experience all or one of the following problems.
  • The mouse does not function when you use Microsoft Word.
  • You cannot open a Word document from Windows Vista based Computer.
  • Word crashes when you try to start or exit from it.
  • Word crashes when you want to open the Opened dialog box.
  • Word crashes when you want to save a document.
  • Word crashes when you want to close a document.
  • Right mouse button will not work when you right click
  • You will not be able to highlight any document
All of the above symptoms are sign of shutting/restarting your Microsoft Windows Vista-based Computer while Microsoft Word 2007 was running.  To eliminate this problem, delete the folder call "Data" by following HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data registry subkey. Now follow the below instructions to get to the "Data" folder to resolve the problems:

Close or Exit Microsoft Office 2007 programs that is running on your Computer.
  • Click on Start button
  • Click on Run button
  • Type in regedit where it says Open:
  • Press Enter Key or Click on OK button
Type in the Administrator password if prompted or Click on Continue from the User Account Control dialogue box.
On the left hand pane, locate and then click on the Tiny Yellow Sign before each of the following registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
Highlight the “Data” folder; Click on Delete; then Yes
Exit Registry Editor Dialogue box.
Restart Microsoft Word 2007.
